…acetylcholine receptor (nAChR) competitive modulators”. The new peptide, U1-AGTX-Ta1b-QA, has been classified as “Unknown or uncertain MoA – subgroup UNP (peptides of unknown or uncertain MoA)” and has been added to the Classification Scheme, Appendix 6, pending registration. …management, all publicly available through its website (https://irac-online.org/). A key tool developed by IRAC is the Insecticide Mode of Action (MoA) Classification Scheme, which has evolved from a relatively simple acaricide classification started in 1998 to the far broader scheme that now includes biologics as well as insecticides and acaricides. A separate MoA Classification Scheme has also been recently developed for nematicides. The IRAC MoA Classification Scheme coupled with expanding use of MoA labeling on insecticide and acaricide product labels…
…hundreds of available insecticides brands, to use. Product rotation should be associated with insect generations and the product’s mode of action (MoA) which is indicated by IRAC group numbers. The product MoA should be printed on product labels in a standardized manner, including essential information on IRM, as proposed by IRAC and CropLife International. So far, MoA labelling is still only optional for VN manufacturers. IRAC VN, in association with CropLife VN, are engaging to help farmers to better manage…

The updated Japanese translated versions of the IRAC MoA Classification Scheme, the Classification Table, the MoA Poster showing the chemical structures, the Procedure for classification of new actives and MoA labeling advice has now been posted on the website with links on the Japan and MoA landing pages….
As part of continued awareness efforts, the IRAC Nematode WG Poster “THE IRAC INTERNATIONAL MODE OF ACTION CLASSIFICATION SCHEME FOR NEMATICIDES” was presented at the 53rd Annual Meeting of the Organization of Nematologists of Tropical America (ONTA) held jointly with the Egyptian Society for Agro-Nematology (ESAN) annual meeting in Cairo, Egypt from 24 to 29 September 2023. Over 80 nematologists, mainly from North & Central America, Europe, the Middle-East and Africa, attended the meeting. The poster was well received and…
In South Africa, it will be critically important to have a harmonised approach to IRM for FAW across the industry and across technologies. This approach should combine a clear and simple structured refuge policy which does not confuse growers between the requirements for FAW and maize stalk borers in South Africa, and which enables a high grower compliance. There are several commercialised Bt-products in South Africa which are very similar. This approach is in the best interests of the seed…
…officials, researchers, and industry representatives. Copies of both the poster and newly published IRAC 7th Edition Mode of Action Classification booklet were given to interested parties, and the feedback was very positive towards encouraging clearer labelling and classification of nematicide, in addition to insecticide, mode of actions. No doubt it was an effective way to raise awareness of the IRAC Nematicides Mode of Action classification scheme and it will help facilitate adoption and awareness of this material around the world….
The MoA posters with the chemical structures for insecticides/acaricides and for nematicides and the small MoA brochure (now including nematicides) have been updated to correspond with the latest versions of the IRAC MoA Classification. The documents can be downloaded from the website and printed copies will be available in early 2022. The insecticide/acaricide poster is in English but other language version are in preparation….
The IRAC Nematode Working Group is the most recently established IRAC team. The initial objectives of the team were to investigate the resistance risk of nematicides and to develop a mode of action classification scheme similar to that available for insecticides and acaricides. Both these objectives have now been completed with the publication of the Nematicide Resistance Risk Statement at the end of 2018 and more recently the release of the Nematicide MoA Classification and corresponding MoA poster in September…
