Public Health Project Teams
Inter company project teams are set up in response to local, national or international insecticide resistance issues. The teams have specific resistance management objectives and timelines and once the project is completed it is disbanded. The Public Health Project Teams typically comprise of relevant company representatives and local experts and are set up and disbanded as needed and agreed by IRAC.
Vectors
The Vector Team was established in 2006 to provide a coordinated response to the increasing resistance problems in vectors important to public health. The Team's priority has been to develop, in conjunction with WHO, an educational manual targeted primarily at public health technicians and vector control program managers on how to avoid the development of resistance in vectors. The manual was published in December 2006 and can be located via the link below. A conference call and meeting is scheduled for January and February 2007 to develop team goals for this year.
Hygiene Pests
The IRAC Public Health Team is looking at this area by first reviewing the current position and developing posters outlining the problems for some of the key pests. This includes houseflies, cockroaches and bedbugs. Once the posters are completed an action plan will be drawn up on how to tackle the various problems.
